Everything you always wanted to know but were afraid to ask

Skills Assessment Information

Skills assessments take place February 1st & 15th. We will share more details in the coming weeks. The information below is intended to help answer questions that may be on parents' minds. Additional questions may be directed to .

In accordance with Little League rules, players who are League Ages 8-12 (born before January 2012) must attend a skills assessment to participate on a Majors, AAA, or AA team, or for placement on a Single A team. Returning Majors players are excluded from this requirement.

Please keep in mind we can't accommodate any team, manager, or carpool requests at AA, AAA, and Majors.  If you have requests for teams/ coaches at Single A and Tee Ball please include that information in the notes section of registration.

Any league 7-year olds who would like to be considered for the AA draft also must participate in a skills assessment. If you would like your 7-year old to have a skills assessment, please contact  .

There are “no cuts,” so everyone makes a team, but you must be assessed in order to play.  At the skills assessment, the managers and coaches rate each player’s ability to hit, throw, run, field fly balls, and field ground balls. Only players, coaches and League officials are allowed in the facility. A player’s score is kept confidential. The assessment helps ensure that players are placed at the appropriate skill and safety level, and that teams are competitively balanced.

Who: All registrants born before Jan 2012 who are NOT returning Majors players

When: February 1 and February 15, 2-5pm. Individual start times will be assigned by age and last name. You should expect to be at the Assessment for ~45 minutes. Please check the FCKLL website later in January for specific start times.

Where: Perfect Performance, 8502 Tyco Road

Gear: Wear athletic clothing and sneakers (no cleats). Bring a glove and water. Due to safety and space limitations, please do NOT bring bats or baseball bags. Batting helmets optional – we will have loaners.

Paperwork: Little League International is very specific about residency and school attendance requirements. Each player must bring three documents proving residency (i.e., property tax bill, rental agreement, utility bill, driver's license, etc.) and one document proving age (birth certificate or passport).

You can read more details about acceptable documentation, from Little League International, here:

https://www.littleleague.org/downloads/residency-school-attendance-eligibility-requirements

Please find more information for parents here on our FCKLL site (left column under Parents).

Other questions? Or can't make your assigned assessment time?  Please reach out to

See you in February!

ANOTHER COOL OFFER FROM OUR NATS

FCKLL Players Invited to See the World Series Trophy

Looking for something to do before Assessments on February 1?

Thanks to FCKLL’s relationship with the Nats, you can see the Nationals' World Series Trophy, live and in person!

Who: Players from the Nationals Team UP member leagues and their immediate families

What: View and take pictures with the World Series Trophy

When: Saturday, February 1st, 10am-3pm. You must be in line by 3pm to see the trophy.

Where: Nats Park, of course!

Parking: Complimentary parking will be provided in the Geico Garage (Garage B). The entrance to the Geico Garage is located on N Street SE to the right of CF Gate. If the Geico Garage becomes parked to capacity, paid street parking is available around the stadium.

Event Location: After parking, families should proceed to the Third Base Gate located on South Capitol Street. After going through security, families will be directed down to the Delta Club to queue for the trophy. Nationals staff will ensure that the line continues to move, but high attendance is expected so families should anticipate a long queue time. Because of February temperatures, we will do what we can to minimize the number of families waiting outside of the stadium.

Details: Each family will be able to take one family photo with the trophy. No one will be permitted to touch or pick up the trophy from the viewing table. Families are encouraged to bring their own cameras (or phones) as there will be no on-site photographer.

RSVP: Nationals.com/TeamUPTrophy

Please wear your Nationals provided FCKLL uniform tee or jersey!
